UFC 5 patch history: 1.20 to 1.31

CHECKED 2026-11-02 · Data

Quick answer

Seven versions have published notes between 1.20 and 1.31. 1.31 is the January 2026 post that ended new playable content.

UFC 5's patch history from 1.20 to 1.31 is documented unevenly. EA publishes a news post for some versions and not others, and the January 2026 update that closed the content run ships as an editorial post rather than a numbered patch note. This page lists only the versions with a published note, and says so where a version has none.

The gap versions

The news hub carries no standalone note for 1.25, 1.26, 1.28, 1.29 or 1.30. They may have shipped as silent updates, as server-side changes, or as live-service content tied to Fight Week without a patch note; EA does not say, and this page will not guess.

What is documented: the patch notes that do exist follow a fixed template — a launch date and downtime estimate, a General section listing new fighters and vanity rewards, a Gameplay section when mechanics change, and a Bugs section.

What the patch history tells you about the game

Three patterns are visible across the seven notes that exist.

Every patch adds a fighter and an Alter Ego drop, staged a few days apart. The pattern is consistent: fighter on patch day, Alter Egos about a week later. That is the live-service cadence in miniature.

Gameplay changes are rare and specific. Across 1.20 to 1.27 there are exactly four gameplay-level changes: the Max Holloway switch-stance combo, the Dillashaw lunge input fix, the crucifix arm-triangle transition cancel, and the Full Mount Armbar/Triangle stamina drain. Everything else is content or bug fixing.

The bugs that got fixed are the ones players reported. Challenge tracking, Fight Week reward grants, weight-class selection, button callouts in the Moves screen — these are UX and reward-loop defects, not balance patches.

Why the stamina fix in 1.27 matters

The Full Mount Armbar and Triangle fix is the only submission change in the whole documented run, and it is worth understanding because it explains a common complaint about earlier versions.

Before the fix, performing those two submissions did not drain the player's stamina. That made them strictly better than every other submission in the game from a resource standpoint — you could hold the position indefinitely while the defender's resilience drained. After 1.27 they cost stamina like everything else.

If you are reading a guide written before September 2025 that recommends armbar spam from full mount as the optimal submission route, that guide is describing a version of the game that no longer exists.

How to read the version number

UFC 5's patch numbers are internal build versions, not a public roadmap. 1.20 to 1.31 spans roughly a year of live-service support, and the gaps in the numbering do not correspond to gaps in content — the content kept coming through Fight Week even when no patch note was published.

The number that matters for this site is 1.31:, the final update to add new playable content. Anything numbered before it describes the game's growth; everything after it describes maintenance.

A note on sourcing

Every row in the first table comes from a dedicated EA news post, dated and publicly readable. The content and fix lists are summarised from those posts rather than copied, and where a post says "additional Alter Egos coming <date>", that date is preserved because it explains why the content always arrived in two waves.

What the dates tell you

The gaps between documented patches are not uniform: 1.20 to 1.24 land roughly monthly through the first half of 2025, then 1.27 arrives in September after a three-month silence, and 1.31 closes the run in January 2026. The content cadence did not stop during those gaps — Fight Week drops continued — but the patch notes did, which is why a player reading only the news hub would think the game went quiet.
