UFC 5 Fight Week: how it works now
Fight Week is UFC 5's live-service layer: challenges, predictions and daily contracts tied to real UFC pay-per-view events. It is also the part of the game that is still running after Patch 1.31 ended new content, which makes it the main reason to log in during a fight week in 2026.

How the cycle works
Fight Week activates around a real UFC numbered event. Challenges open in the week leading up to the event and stay available for a period after it — EA's glossary states the window as 5 days before and after a UFC PPV event.
Everything inside the mode is time-limited. That is the design: the mode exists to make a real fight card feel like an in-game event, and it only works if the content expires when the event does.
Three activities, three rewards
| Activity | What you do | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Challenges | Complete objectives tied to the event | Alter Egos, vanity items, profile assets, emotes |
| Pick'em | Predict the main card before the event | Coins, scaled by accuracy and leaderboard placement |
| Contracts | Daily fight offers against AI under preset settings | Coins for attempting, more for winning |
Challenges are the headline. The rewards are the reason to care: new Alter Egos, Fighter Vanity Items, player profile customisation assets and Fighter Emotes usable in Create a Fighter. To take part, open Fight Week from the main menu, select the Challenges tab, and complete them before the window closes.
Pick'em is the prediction game. You make picks for the main card of the real event, get seeded into a leaderboard pool, and earn coins based on accuracy plus placement. It costs nothing but attention, which makes it the highest-value activity in the mode for a player who follows the sport.
Contracts are the daily grind. Each one is a fight offer against a CPU opponent under preset gameplay settings. You earn coins for every fight you attempt and more for each win, the difficulty rises over the course of the week, and your cumulative wins, losses and finishes are tracked in the Contracts tab. Contracts expire after seven days.
What happened after Patch 1.31
This is the part most guides get wrong, because they were written while the game was still adding content.
EA's January 2026 update ended new playable content — fighters, Alter Egos, created-fighter items and event fight kits — with Patch 1.31. It did not end Fight Week. The same announcement lists what continues: Fight Week Challenges, Pick'ems and Punch Cards with every UFC Numbered Event, along with fighter data updates and online maintenance.
So in 2026 the mode still runs on the same cycle, with one difference: the reward pool no longer grows. If you are chasing a specific Alter Ego that was a Fight Week reward in 2024, the live mode is not going to reissue it.
Why Fight Week still matters
Three reasons, in order of how much they affect a normal player.
- It is the cheapest source of cosmetics and coins in the game. Contracts pay coins for attempting, not just winning, and the daily reset means a short session every day outperforms one long session a week.
- It gates three trophies. Fight Week challenges are tied to three semi-missable trophies, and because the mode is only live during real PPV weeks, missing the window means waiting for the next event.
- It is the only part of UFC 5 that still changes. The roster is fixed, the patch history is closed, but the Fight Week card rotates with the real sport. If you want a reason to come back to the game, this is it.
How to get the most out of a fight week
- Open the Challenges tab on day one. The objectives are usually cumulative and the window is short.
- Make picks before the event starts, not after. Pick'em locks when the real card begins.
- Do the contracts daily. They expire after seven days and the difficulty curve means the early ones are the cheapest coins.
- Check the reward list before grinding. If the Alter Ego on offer is for a fighter you never use, the coins from contracts are the better return.
- Do not skip a week you need. The three semi-missable trophies are the clearest example of why the window matters: a missed Fight Week is a missed trophy until the next numbered event.
What the closed reward pool means
Before Patch 1.31, a missed Fight Week was a delay: the reward would rotate back or a new set would arrive next month. After it, a missed Fight Week is a missed item, because the pool no longer grows and past event rewards are not reissued.
That changes the correct behaviour in two ways. If the current week offers an Alter Ego you want, play it now rather than assuming it will return. And if the week offers nothing you want, the contracts are still worth doing for coins, because coins remain spendable on the fixed store catalogue.
The exception is the six farewell Alter Egos handed out between 22 January and 10 February 2026. Those were a login gift with a fixed window, and no mechanism has reissued them since.
