UFC 5 Alter Egos: every series

CHECKED 2026-11-02 · Data

Quick answer

An Alter Ego is a separate version of a fighter with its own stats and move set, built from one career moment. EA counted over 145 across the run.

Alter Egos are UFC 5's signature reward: a second version of a real fighter, built from a specific night in their career, with different stats, a different move set and a different look. They are not skins. An Alter Ego can turn a fighter you never use into one of your best options.

What an Alter Ego is

EA's glossary definition is precise: an alternative version of a UFC Fighter with different playstyles, looks, abilities and stats, representing a legendary athlete in an authentic career-defining moment.

Three consequences follow. First, an Alter Ego is a separate roster entry, not a costume — it has its own ratings. Second, the moment matters: an Alter Ego built from a 2005 fight plays like the fighter did in 2005, not like the current model. Third, because the ratings differ, an Alter Ego can fill a role the base fighter cannot.

The January 2026 update put the total at over 145 Alter Egos released across the live-service run.

What the hub actually lists

The official Alter Egos hub is a paged grid. At the time of writing it returns 96 cards across 25 named series, which is fewer than the 145+ figure EA quotes because the hub is a curated showcase rather than a complete inventory.

The series names are the actual taxonomy the game uses, and they double as a history lesson: WEC, Pride, Strikeforce and the Ultimate Fighter era each get their own set.

The series worth knowing

Hall of Fame (6 cards). Anderson Silva (UFC 117), Chael Sonnen (UFC 117), Frankie Edgar (UFC 136), Joanna Jedrzejczyk (UFC 211), Shogun Rua (UFC 113) and Wanderlei Silva (UFC 139). This is the set that pairs rivals from the same card, which makes it the most interesting series for head-to-head play.

TUF Anniversary (4 cards). Carla Esparza (TUF 20 Finale, 2014), Kelvin Gastelum (TUF 17 Finale, 2013), Michael Chiesa (TUF 15 Finale, 2012) and Stephan Bonnar (TUF 1, 2005). EA framed the drop as celebrating 20 years of The Ultimate Fighter.

Community Vote (9 cards). The series voted on by players, including Charles Oliveira (UFC 262), Conor McGregor (UFC 205), Daniel Cormier (UFC 226), Jorge Masvidal (UFC 244), Petr Yan (UFC 267), Quinton Jackson (UFC 75), Rafael dos Anjos (UFC 185) and Stephen Thompson (UFC 205).

Origin Series (3 cards). Alex Caceres (2006), Jorge Masvidal (2003) and Kimbo Slice (2003) — the backyard era, before any of them reached the UFC.

WEC (8 cards). Anthony Pettis (WEC 53), Carlos Condit (WEC 35), Chael Sonnen (WEC 36), Cub Swanson (WEC 44), Dominick Cruz (WEC 53), Dustin Poirier (WEC 52), Jose Aldo (WEC 48) and Urijah Faber (WEC 26).

Prime Legacy (4 cards). Demetrious Johnson (UFC 152), Dominick Cruz (UFC Fight Night 81), Michelle Waterson-Gomez (UFC on FOX 22) and Stipe Miocic (UFC 252).

How you get them

Three routes, all documented:

  1. Fight Week challenges. The headline reward for completing the week's objectives, which is why Fight Week participation matters beyond coins.
  2. Punch Card rewards. Some Alter Egos sit on the season track at specific levels.
  3. The store. Purchasable with coins or points during Fight Week rotations, depending on the item.

One trophy, Shape Shifter, requires acquiring an Alter Ego. Because all three acquisition routes run through connected services, it is tagged as an online trophy even though Alter Egos are usable in offline modes.

Do Alter Egos change competitive play?

They change your options, not the rules. An Alter Ego uses the same inputs, the same stamina model and the same damage system — what changes is the stat spread and the move set.

That is enough to matter. A fighter whose base version has no submission threat can become dangerous on the ground in their Alter Ego form, and a striker's early-career version often has different power and speed trade-offs than their prime. In a game whose roster is fixed at 74 cards, the Alter Ego list is effectively a second roster, and it is where most of the variety in 2026 comes from.

Because content ended at Patch 1.31, that second roster is also closed. There is no new Alter Ego coming; what is in the game now is the complete set.
